Yoruba’s most powerful monarch, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has gotten himself a new wife.
Following his third divorce from Olori Naomi Ogunwusi, the Ife monarch has tied the knot for the fourth time.
Recall that in July, reports made rounds that the monarch had gotten himself a new wife.
It seems that is true as the Ooni has finally taken a new wife.
It was learned that the name of his new wife is Olori Mariam.
According to reports, Ooni had started arrangements in March for his new wife.
He had sent a high-powered delegation to her family to request her hand in marriage.
Unconfirmed sources said the new Queen is an Ebira girl, and her family lives in Ilorin.
Close circles of the new Queen of Ife described her as a nice and calm girl.
Mariam Anako who works in NestOlil is a native of the Ebira ethnic group in Kogi State.
She was said to have been of immense help to the Ooni and this must have endeared her to him.
The ex-wife of the monarch, Olori Silekunola Naomi Ogunwusi broke up with the monarch in 2021.
In a statement released on her Instagram page, Olori Naomi announced her crashed marriage.

Presidency denies authorising Katsina security outfit to carry arms

Spread the love

The Presidency has denied that any state has been issued authorisation to procure automatic weapons for its security outfit.

Last week, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu had accused the Federal Government of bias in refusing to allow the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, to carry sophisticated firearms, while allegedly granting approval to the Katsina State security outfit to carry sophisticated firearms.

That was as the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba said that quasi-security outfits established by state governments have no legal basis to function during the 2023 general elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Presidency said the possession of automatic weapons and AK-47 remains illegal in the country.

“The Presidency wishes to strongly assert that there is no state, not Katsina, not any other state in the federation, that has been authorized to procure automatic weapons for their security outfits,” the statement reads.

“Under this administration, the President has repeatedly made it clear that nobody is allowed to illegally carry AK-47 or any other automatic weapons and that they must surrender them”.

The Presidency however said neither Katsina nor Ondo is allowed to purchase automatic weapons for security outfits.

“Under the existing regulations, only the Office of the National Security Adviser can issue such authorization, upon proper clearance by the President and Commander-in-Chief and as it is at this moment, no such approvals have been issued to any state government.

“In the specific Katsina State often cited, the Governor, Aminu Bello Masari wrote to explain that the administration invited the Provost of the Civil Defence Training College in Katsina to train their vigilantes for a five-day period….

“in the handling and operations of Pump Action Rifles,” emphasising that “the vigilantes were not trained to take over the responsibilities of the security agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria but to assist them”.

The Presidency added that it “appreciates the active involvement of states with security matters. As they continue to expand their capabilities as well as their active collaboration with law enforcement agencies of the federation, the joint efforts continue to yield good results, thwarting attempts of terrorists to wreak havoc and destruction on communities”.

President Muhammadu Buhari was quoted as saying he has received reports “of acts of utmost bravery and professionalism” by operatives of state security outfits.

“He thanked them for their alertness that is helping to defeat nefarious plots against targets at grassroots levels”, the statement added.

Furthermore, the Presidency called on leaders at various levels “to exercise restraint in their speech, even as we are in a political season”.

Don’t Let Politicians Use Money, Religion To Deceive You

Ohanaeze, Obi
Spread the love

Peter Obi, standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP), has urged Nigerians not to allow politicians sway them with religious or tribal sentiments in the 2023 polls.

He made this appeal during his courtesy visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife on Tuesday, just as campaigns for general election take off today.

Obi appealed to Nigerians to elect the next president based on capacity, competence and commitment to national development.

“Don’t look at tribe or religion. It’s what we, the politicians, the elites, use to deceive you. Don’t look at our religion. Let nobody tell you it’s his entitlement.

It’s nobody’s turn; it’s Nigerians’ turn. It’s the turn of the Nigerian youths. Nobody will take anything from them this time! Nobody is entitled to it.

And don’t say it’s their money. It’s your money they are giving you. If I bring money, take it,” Obi said.

“It’s your entitlement. Nobody is entitled to take it from you. If they give you money, take it. They are only paying part of their debt.

“This is a movement for the youth to take back their country. I set up a movement that would go a long way to reveal how things are going wrong in the country.”

Obi stated that it was unacceptable for the country not to be able to produce food for the people despite abundant human and mineral resources.

“We have enough land and resources to make provision for feeding the country. A state can feed this nation, not to talk of 36 states.

We should not wait for crude oil alone from the Niger Delta to sustain us. Enough land and fund are available for the citizenry,” he said.

“Everybody in Nigeria is suffering, including Nigerian youths. Enough of manipulation! Please, don’t consider tribe. It is nobody’s turn! It is Nigerians’ turn!

“Nobody should vote for me because I am an Igbo man or a southeast man or because of my religion. There’s no tribe where people are eating free food.

People are not buying bread cheaper in the southwest than in the southeast. Poor people in Nigeria are suffering in Nigeria.”
