By Francesca Iwambe
Celebrity fashion designer, Toyin Lawani, Big Brother Naija ‘Shine ya eyes’ housemates, Boma Akpore and Tega Dominic have jumped to the defense of current housemate, Hermes Iyele.
A troll had taken swipe at the reality star’s mental health and that of his mother.
Recall that Hermes had been spotted behaving in a disturbing manner.
In the viral video, Hermes who undoubtedly is on the list of favourite Level Up housemates was captured alone in a corner of the house speaking out loud to no-one in particular with his eyes closed.
Some concerned social media users had expressed worry over his stability and mental health.
But reacting to the development, some users alleged that he was displaying a ‘withdrawal symptom’ while another said his instability was as a result of too much Indian hemp in his system, however few others accused him of using it as a strategy to win the game.
Since the viral video, many have tagged him “mentally unstable” over his weird behaviours.
Using this against him, a troll dragged his fan page for campaigning for him.
The troll described his mother as a mad woman and the reality star as a mentally deranged human.
“Since you’ve decided to be unfortunate, it’s obvious that your mother is a mad woman. Your fave Mother is a mad woman. Your fave is also a mentally depressed human. You are also a product of madness. Here is my evidence”.

Standing up for him, Toyin took to Instagram to slam the troll.
She noted how many don’t open up on their mental health battle for fear of being mocked.
“Somebody sat down and wrote this. Well I’m not shocked, I read all sorts from empty souls on the street of social media and this is why most people don’t talk about their mental health or rape things like that. Y’all always get bullied for it, but guess what, No matter how much you hate. @hermesiyele is destined to be great. Nobody can stop Greatness.
@theunstoppabletoyinlawani King of all Queens said so, coolest tribe is here to stay. Love from this side, I hope his mom gets all the right help she needs with them, But for now Tribe lest focus and get our baby there”.
Taking to comment section, Boma Akpore, Tega and Leo joined her in fighting for him.
Tega Dominic: I love the responds… exactly why he is special
Boma Akpore: Idiots all over the internet, they need to make Data more expensive. The fact that it’s cheap, has breaded lots of nuisance smh
Leo Silva: This is so wrong. Jesus Christ
Toyin Lawani had given reasons she would want Hermes Iyele to emerge winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7.
For Lawani, Hermes deserves the whooping N100m grand prize so he could take proper care of his mother who is reportedly in a Psychiatric home.
Taking to her verified Instagram page, the mother of three wrote: “Hahaha my Guy @hermesiyele is not playing o. see how he’s walking as if he’s on the runway, just to go and pick ball. He puts drama into anything he does. I love him, instagram deleted my post of him, they don’t want me to show his bumbum to the world. Why Hermes wa kere ni , Inside that whole house , he’s the only one my eyes are seeing. I wish everyone luck though but he’s my guy for the year and he should be yours too, wish he would win and get the right help for his mom. I just love how he loves her; wish my mom was still here too to shower her with so much love but then again.”

Singer, Ed Sheeran ordered to stand trial in the US over claims he copied Marvin Gaye’s hit Let’s Get it On

British singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran will face trial in the US over claims he copied his 2014 hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ from Marvin Gaye’s 1973 classic ‘Let’s Get It On’.

U.S. District Judge Louis Stanton in Manhattan denied Sheeran’s bid to dismiss the copyright infringement suit, saying a jury should decide on whether the two songs are substantially similar.

The move comes after Sheeran, 31, and his co-songwriters were awarded more than £900,000 in legal costs in June after winning their UK High Court copyright trial over the hit Shape of Year in March.

After that ruling six months ago, Sheeran lashed out at the ‘baseless claims’ being brought against singer-songwriters.

On Thursday, Judge Stanton said that Sheeran must now face trial in the US amid claims Thinking Out Loud is copied from Gaye’s Let’s Get It On.

The copyright infringement suit was originally lodged in 2018 – not by Gaye’s family, but by Structured Asset Sales LLC, which owns a portion of ‘Let’s Get It On’ co-writer Ed Townsend’s estate.

Structured Asset Sales (SAS) is seeking $100million in damages while alleging Sheeran and his co-writer Amy Wadge ‘copied and exploited, without authorization or credit’ the Gaye song, ‘including but not limited to the melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bass line, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping’.

Gaye co-wrote Let’s Get It On with Edward Townsend, an American singer and songwriter who died in 2003.

They released the song in June 1973 and it hit No.1 in September that year. More than 10 years later, Gaye was shot and killed by his father, Marvin Gay Senior – whose surname is spelt differently – at their house in Hancock Park, Los Angeles, after an argument on 1 April, 1984, on the eve of his 45th birthday.

On Thursday September 29, Judge Stanton said a jury must decide whether the two songs are substantially similar because music experts on both sides of the dispute disagree whether Sheeran’s song mimics ‘Let’s Get It On.’

‘Although the two musical compositions are not identical, a jury could find that the overlap between the songs’ combination of chord progression and harmonic rhythm is very close,’ Stanton said.

An attorney for Structured Asset Sales, Hillel Parness, told Reuters the company is ‘pleased’ with the ruling.
