Police arrest 1,460 suspects in Bauchi State

The Police Command in Bauchi State says it has arrested 1,460 suspects for various offences from November 2021 to date.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Umar Sanda said this during the North-East zonal sensitisation organised by the Police Public Complaint Committee (PPCC) on Thursday in Bauchi.

He said the Police prosecuted 722 cases and rescued 55 kidnap victims within the period under review, and reitrated readiness to tackle public complaints and other legitimate grievances in the state.

“From my assumption of duty on Nov. 29, 2021 till date, the Command recorded 722 cases.

“It arrested 1,460 suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the state, and rescued 55 kidnapped victims from their captors,” he said.

Represented by Bello Shehu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations, Sanda said the Police recovered seven AK-47 Rifles, 145 live ammunitions, 20 locally made revolvers and 23 Dane guns,

He listed other recovered weapons to include 20 cartridges, 45 machetes, one single barrel, one double barrel, 14 motorcycles, five laptops, 10 tricycles, 81 parcel of Cannabis sativa, 101 cell phones and N7.19 million, among others.

The CP said the command recorded significant successes in the fight against crimes through actionable intelligence from members of the public,

He commended the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Dingyadi for police community initiative that bring members of the public closer to the Police.

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have sealed a multi-billion naira hotel in Osubi, Okpe local government area of Delta State.

Investigation revealed that the hotel is said to belong to the embattled governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori.

The hotel, which is still under construction is being investigated for alleged financial fraud.

The commission is yet to issue any official statement with regards to the development.

Two suspected Boko Haram collaborators arrested in Kaduna while attempting to withdraw N14m deposited into account of terrorist financier

The Nigerian military has arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators at a new generation bank in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, made this known during the bi-weekly media briefing on military operations across the country held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, September 22.

According to Danmadami, the suspects were arrested by troops of operation Hadin Kai while they were attempting to withdraw the sum of N14m deposited into the account of a suspected terrorist financier identified as Alhaji Abubakar.

“Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have continued to intensify offensive actions against terrorists and other criminal elements in their operational environment,” he stated.

“On 15 September 2022, troops arrested 2 suspected terrorists collaborators at bank in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State while trying to withdraw the sum of Fourteen Million Naira (14,000,000.00) deposited into the account of one Alhaji Abubakar, a suspected terrorist financier.”

Tension As Undergraduate Kills Both Parents, Leaves Decomposing Corpse In Room

An unnamed man, said to be an undergraduate of a university within Anambra State has allegedly killed his father and mother.

The incident happened in Nnewi, Anambra State, and the already decomposing corpses were found in their room on Thursday night.

A source said the corpses were discovered by neighbours, who started perceiving offensive smell, before discovering the decomposing bodies of the man and his wife, who were said to have been killed by their only son.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police command said it has launched a manhunt for the man.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng described the discovery of the already decomposing dead bodies in an apartment in Nnewi on 22/9/2022 at about 5:20pm with machete cuts, as act of man’s inhumanity to man.

“He has ordered immediate manhunt of the suspect. He further directs immediate transfer of the case to State Criminal investigation department for discreet investigation.”

Meanwhile, the decomposing bodies have been recovered and deposited in the morgue.
