Karim Benzema, has insisted that he see no reason for him in taking photo with former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Naijablitznews.com recalls that Ronaldo who is now playing for Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabia visit Real Madrid training ahead of El Clasico match with Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup.

Speaking at a press conference ahead the clash, Karim Benzema refused to answer questions about his recent crisis with France at the World Cup, and explained why he did not shake hands with Cristiano Ronaldo during the Portuguese player’s visit to Real Madrid training on Friday.

Benzema began his remarks, saying: “The final tomorrow means that we have another title, another pride. At Real Madrid, they always ask us to win titles and to show that we are here every year to bring the trophy to Madrid. We have to be ready to win this match.”

He added: “I had an injury and I did a good job to get back to my level. I work with the ball, I score, I help my teammates, and I improve my game. Obviously I’m back. I hope I can help my teammates.”

He continued, “The most important thing for us is tomorrow’s match. I’m ready, I’m ready mentally and physically.

I’m focused on tomorrow’s game. After last year, which was important for me, I needed time to get back to my best level. I’m on my way back, I’m in good shape and I feel good.”

When asked about the difficult moments he went through in his recent crisis with the French national team, Benzema said: “This is not the issue of tomorrow, the issue is the final. I can’t tell you more about France or the World Cup. I will not answer that.”

On renewing his contract with Real Madrid: “I am here, enjoying every training session and every match. For me it’s year after year. I can’t tell you how long I will be staying here. I enjoy every day.”

On his future, he added: “I enjoy every day at Real Madrid. We don’t know what will happen in football, but hopefully we can win the cup tomorrow.”

On Saudi Arabia and Cristiano’s move to victory: “Saudi Arabia is a very beautiful country. All the fans are happy to be here. We hope to win tomorrow, which is important for us. Cristiano? He was with us yesterday, hopefully he can make a difference here.”

Regarding the lack of photos of him with Cristiano Ronaldo during his visit to Real Madrid training, Benzema said: “My relationship with Cristiano?

We don’t need to take a photo together to say we’re friends, we don’t. He was in training and I didn’t have time to talk to him.”

Antonio Conte could miss a number of games after Premier League club Tottenham announced he will go under the knife having suffered from “severe abdominal pain”

Antonio Conte was suffering from “severe abdominal pain”, Tottenham said.

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte is to have his gallbladder removed on Wednesday after suffering from “severe abdominal pain” earlier this morning.

The Italian could be absent for up to a couple of weeks following the surgery and his assistant Cristian Stellini is expected to take charge of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

“Antonio recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain,” a Spurs statement said. “Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today (Wednesday) and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the club wishes him well.”

Conte will be determined to return as soon as possible but there is a chance that he will miss the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie away to Milan on February 14.

Chukwueze is one of the five players in the Spanish topflight to have reached double figures for both goals and assists since 2022 in all competitions.

The Nigerian’s inclusion did not come as a surprise following his impressive performance, which was key to Villareal’s return to form after a poor start during the year.

The 23-year-old, a part of the squad that won the Europa League in 2021 after defeating Manchester United in the final, has been very influential for Villarreal this season, scoring eight goals and assisting seven across all competitions this season, and taking his total tally to 10 goals and 10 assists since January 2022 till date.

Also on the list are Real Madrid’s Brazilian star Vinicius Jr and Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

The Los Blancos forward tops the list having scored 21 goals and assisted 14, while Dembele occupies the second position with 10 goals and 18 assists.

Jose Morales, who recently joined Villarreal from Levante, is third on the list with his 17 goals and 11 assists, with Madrid’s Rodrygo’s 15 goals and 12 assists placing him in fourth of the most prolific LaLiga players’ lists.

In 2022, Super Eagles forward Chukwueze made LaLiga Team of The Week for a record three times, a personal best for the Nigerian.
