The Abia State Command of Man O’ War Nigeria, in collaboration with the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) chapter of the organisation, has successfully held a one-day Capacity-Building Workshop for its officers and men.
The workshop was part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, discipline and effective service delivery.
The workshop, which held under the theme “A New Dawn: Service, Integrity and Excellence,” attracted officers of the organisation as well as representatives of the university community, various security agencies and other paramilitary bodies, giving the event a strong inter-agency presence.
Representing the National Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria, the National Training Officer, Assistant National Commander Rosemary Nkem Anene, charged the personnel to remain steadfast in the core values of service, integrity and excellence, which she described as the backbone of the organisation’s identity. She reminded them that Man O’ War plays a critical role in youth development, community safety and national cohesion, and stressed that the relevance of the organisation depends largely on the discipline, character and commitment of its members.
In his address, the Abia State Commander, MC (Rev.) Simon Onwubiko, who was represented by the Deputy State Commander, DMC Victor Kanayo Onwubuya, urged the officers and men to sustain a high level of discipline, professionalism and commitment to peace and security in the state. He noted that the workshop was timely, considering the prevailing security realities in the country, and called on the personnel to see themselves as dependable partners to conventional security agencies in the maintenance of law and order.
Investiture and decorations of two professors of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, as the patrons of MOUAU cadets was observed, Awards were also presented to deserving officers and men whose dedication to duty, discipline and outstanding performance stood out.
Another major highlight of the occasion was the formal handing over of leadership to the new MOUAU Man O’ War cadet executives, marking a smooth transition and reinforcing the organisation’s culture of mentorship, continuity and institutional development within tertiary institutions.
Participants described the capacity-building workshop as impactful and motivating, expressing gratitude to the leadership of the Abia State Command for its vision and commitment to the continuous training of personnel. Many pledged renewed dedication to the ideals of Man O’ War Nigeria, as the organisation continues to reposition itself for greater effectiveness in community policing, emergency response, youth engagement and peace building across the state.
