…says expulsion move is a play under the moonlight
Bob-Manuel Umoru
Publicity Secretary, PDP, Edo State Chapter has drawn the line declaring that as it’s the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has not held a convention, no valid expulsion and no existing national chairman.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the publicity scribe stating that:
“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading press release circulating in the media claiming that a “new National Chairman” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged from a purported convention held in Ibadan on November 16, 2025, and that certain members including the Honourable Minister of the FCT, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike have been issued expulsion certificates.
“For the sake of clarity, legality, and the integrity of our great party, the following must be stated categorically:
1. No National Convention Was Held by the PDP
“The Peoples Democratic Party has not conducted any valid National Convention as prescribed by the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).
“Therefore, no individual can legitimately claim to have emerged as National Chairman or holder of any national office from a convention that did not occur.
“The alleged convention in Ibadan is a fabrication with no basis in reality or party procedure.
2. Two High Court Judgments Remain in Force
“There are two subsisting High Court judgments clearly addressing the leadership status of the party and restraining the conduct of any convention pending the resolution of certain matters.
“These judgments have not been vacated by any superior court.
In line with the rule of law, any action taken in defiance of these valid court orders including the supposed handover ceremony and claims of new leadership is null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.
3. The “Expulsion Certificates” Are a Joke Taken Too Far
“The so called expulsion certificates issued to H.E. Nyesom Wike and others represent:
*a deliberate mockery of due process,*
*a childish political drama, and
*at best a play under the moonlight.
“You cannot expel party members from a convention that never took place, under a leadership that is not recognized by law, using a process that violates both court orders and the PDP Constitution.
*This charade is an embarrassment to internal party democracy.
4. PDP Cannot Be Rebuilt Through Illegality*
“The PDP is a party founded on law, order, and democratic discipline.
Any effort to rebuild or reposition the party must:
*respect valid court orders,
follow constitutional procedures,
*pursue genuine reconciliation,
*and uphold truth not propaganda or illegitimate power grabs.
5. PDP Will Never Die; But It Cannot Be Hijacked
“The PDP remains strong and resilient, but it must be protected from individuals attempting to impose illegal leadership structures and unconstitutional sanctions.
“Those who claim the party “will never die” while violating its core principles are the real threat to its stability.
*The facts remain:
*No PDP National Convention has been held.
*Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, is not the National Chairman of the PDP.*
*The purported expulsions are illegal, void, and unenforceable.*
*The valid High Court orders remain in effect.
“We call on all genuine members of the Edo State Chapter of our great party, members across the Nation, and and all over the world, wherever this will get to, kindly disregard this misinformation and remain steadfast in defending the Constitution and integrity of our great party.
