The national grid, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has collapsed throwing Nigeria into total darkness.
Data from the national grid indicated that electricity generation of 3,660 MW as of 6:38 p.m. of 28th December, 2025. However, electricity generation plunged to zero megawatts as of 3:10 p.m. on Monday.
As of 3:12 p.m. electricity was supplied exclusively to Ibadan and Abuja Distribution Companies, which received 30 MW and 20 MW respectively, far below normal allocation.
All other major DisCos, including Eko, Ikeja, Benin, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna, Jos and Yola, recorded zero power allocation.
The development points to a severe grid failure or system-wide constraint, leaving most parts of the country in darkness during peak daytime hours and raising fresh concerns over the stability of Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
