The Edo State Police Command has confirmed an incident of malicious damage and thuggery at the African Democratic Party (ADC) State Secretariat in Benin City.
The spokesperson of the command, ASP Eno Ikoedem told journalists that the incident occurred on Wednesday.
According to Ekoedem, police operatives were immediately mobilised to the secretariat to restore normalcy, following a distress call reporting that suspected hoodlums had invaded the party’s premises and were destroying properties.
The police spokesperson observed that Preliminary assessment revealed malicious damage to flags and two windows in the premises.
While stating that that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible, she appreciated the prompt call that was made which saved the situation and encouraged everyone in distress to do same through its dedicated lines 08077773721 or 08037646272.
The command warned miscreants against such heinous act, adding that anyone found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
