In a renewed push to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and expand the structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State, prominent political figure Dino Melaye on Wednesday hosted a strategic caucus and leaders’ meeting of the party at his residence in Kabba, pledging significant financial support to energise party activities across the region.
During the meeting, Senator Melaye donated the sum of ₦14 million to support the party’s membership drive, registration, and revalidation exercise, describing the initiative as a crucial step toward strengthening the ADC’s grassroots presence and preparing the party for future political contests.
The gathering brought together influential leaders and stakeholders of the party from across Okun land and the broader Kogi West Senatorial District. Those present at the meeting included Hon. Hassan Salawu, Engr. JK Odeyemi, Chief Joe Elebiyo, Chief Dayo Akande, Chief (Barr.) Gboyega Kolade, and Barr. Yemi Olumudi.
Also in attendance were all five Local Government Chairmen from Okun land, demonstrating a united front for the party’s growth in the region.
Other notable participants included Rt. Hon. Sunmonu, former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Jambrite Sunmonu, Hon. S. O. Adeleye, alongside several other party leaders and stakeholders committed to advancing the fortunes of the ADC.
Senator Melaye emphasised that the support was aimed at mobilising members, strengthening party structures, and encouraging wider participation in the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.
It could be recalled that earlier efforts to reposition the party saw him provide ₦10 million to the Kogi West Senatorial District during the unveiling of the ADC in the area, underscoring his continued commitment to building a formidable platform for democratic participation.
Party leaders at the meeting commended Melaye for his consistent support and dedication to the growth of the ADC, describing the intervention as a timely boost that will significantly enhance mobilisation efforts across the senatorial district.
The meeting ended with a renewed pledge by party stakeholders to intensify grassroots engagement and expand the party’s membership base across communities in Kogi West.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has assured that all capital projects initiated under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the nation’s capital will be completed before the end of the administration’s tenure.
Wike gave the assurance during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he said the administration had recorded unprecedented progress in infrastructure development across the FCT.
The minister said the Tinubu administration had commissioned 107 capital projects in the territory, adding that 76 of the projects had already been completed.
According to him, 10 additional projects are expected to be commissioned before the January elections, while the remaining projects would be completed before the expiration of the current administration.
“The President’s administration under Bola Tinubu commissioned 107 capital projects. We have completed 76. Before the January election, we will commission 10, and before the end of his tenure, we would have commissioned all the projects,” Wike said.
He said the FCT Administration had also made significant progress in completing projects inherited from previous administrations.
According to Wike, of the 25 projects inherited from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, 23 had been completed, while two were ongoing.
He added that six out of eight projects inherited from the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had also been completed, with work continuing on the remaining two.
“We inherited 25 projects from President Buhari and completed 23, while two are currently ongoing.
“We inherited eight projects from the administrations of President Jonathan and President Yar’Adua. We have completed six, while two are ongoing,” he said.
Wike said the Tinubu administration remained committed to ensuring that projects initiated under the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT were completed within the President’s tenure.
“Before this tenure expires, every project started under Bola Tinubu would have been completed,” he said.
The minister challenged critics to compare the performance of the current administration in the FCT with that of previous administrations, insisting that the territory had witnessed unprecedented development under Tinubu.
“In the history of the FCT, no government has done what we have done in Abuja. I challenge anyone to come out,” Wike stated.
The African Democratic Congress has given reasons why its presidential flag bearer Atiku Abubakar was absent at the G100 summit in Abuja.
ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, gave the explanation on Tuesday during an interview saying the summit focused on cooperation among political parties rather than individual candidates.
He said the ADC was fully represented at Monday’s meeting, with four of its vice chairmen in attendance, making Atiku’s physical presence unnecessary.
The summit, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, brought together representatives of major opposition parties to discuss possible cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
