The Kwankwasiyya Movement has confirmed that the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party and its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is currently in talks with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement’s Spokesperson II, Mansur Kurugu, disclosed this in an interview on Monday, noting that discussions among key political figures were progressing steadily.
Kurugu explained that while negotiations had reached an advanced stage, no consensus had been reached on the political platform the leaders would eventually adopt.
“It is true that Kwankwaso is in talks with ADC and NDC, and we are optimistic that the leaders will end up adopting one of the parties before the 2027 elections,” he said.
He added that the ongoing dialogue involves prominent political actors across party lines, stressing that consultations were still in progress.
According to Kurugu, notable figures such as former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi; Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; and Bayelsa West Senator, Seriake Dickson, are actively participating in the talks.
“The likes of Seriake Dickson, Peter Obi, and Seyi Makinde are all part of the talks, and they have progressed significantly,” he added.
The Kwankwasiyya spokesman further noted that the final decision could see the coalition adopt any of the platforms currently under consideration, including the NNPP itself.
He said the leaders were weighing their options carefully before settling on a political vehicle that would best serve their collective ambition.
“At the end of the discussions, the leaders will adopt either ADC, NDC, or even NNPP as their final destination,” Kurugu stated.
