Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has publicly reaffirmed her love and admiration for her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he marked his 74th birthday, offering a rare personal glimpse into a marriage she once described as unusually quiet.
In a heartfelt message, Oluremi celebrated the President not just as a leader but as a partner, expressing pride in his leadership and confidence in his vision for the country.
“To God be all the glory for the gift of life and yet another birthday,” she said.
“I celebrate you and I pray God gives you divine health, strength, joy and peace as you take Nigeria to her Eldorado of great wealth and opportunities. Akanbi, omo olodo ide. I love you and I am so proud of you.”
The emotional tribute comes against the backdrop of her recent revelation that throughout their decades-long marriage, she and the President have had disagreements on only a handful of occasions, a statement that sparked widespread reactions about the dynamics of their relationship.
Oluremi Tinubu’s latest love message, however, appears to reinforce a picture of deep personal loyalty and mutual respect, even as the President navigates one of the most challenging periods of his administration.
In his own birthday reflection, President Tinubu struck a sober tone, acknowledging the economic difficulties Nigerians have faced following sweeping reforms introduced by his government.
“As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms,” he said, while thanking Nigerians for their goodwill, prayers, and continued support.
The President admitted that recent developments, including the impact of the Middle East crisis, have compounded domestic challenges, but insisted that there are early signs of recovery.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians are beginning to yield results, describing the current moment as one with “a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.”
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling key national issues, expressing confidence that sustained public support would enable the country to overcome its present difficulties and achieve long-term prosperity.
He also acknowledged the support of Vice President Kashim Shettima, who in his goodwill message praised the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it is placing Nigeria on a path of sustainable growth.
Shettima highlighted ongoing efforts in economic reforms and infrastructure development, describing the President’s leadership as focused and determined to lay a solid foundation for future generations.
