In a statement released on Saturday, the examination body urged candidates and the general public to disregard the information, insisting it did not come from the board.

“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious press release stating that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. The general public, particularly candidates, are hereby informed that this press release is fake and did not originate from us. All activities for the 2026 UTME will continue as scheduled,” JAMB said.

The board maintained that the examination will go on as planned, with the main UTME scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

The clarification comes shortly after the conduct of the UTME mock exam on March 28, which recorded some technical glitches across a number of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

According to JAMB, out of over 224,000 candidates who registered for the mock exam, about 152,000 were able to complete it across 989 centres nationwide.

The board added that more than 20 CBT centres affected by technical issues have since been delisted due to inadequate performance.

JAMB also used the opportunity to warn candidates against falling for scams, particularly from individuals or groups on WhatsApp promising to help boost examination scores.

It described such claims as false and criminal, warning that any candidate found engaging in such activities risks having their registration cancelled or their results withheld.
