The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has said that a Kaduna State High Court has adjourned ruling on the bail application of former governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 21, 2026.
The commission disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that El-Rufai is facing separate trials at the Kaduna State High Court and the Federal High Court.
According to the ICPC, the former governor and one Joel Adoga are standing trial on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged corruption and money laundering offences.
The anti-graft agency alleged that El-Rufai received ₦289,826,998.12 as severance allowance between 2020 and 2023, exceeding his lawful entitlement.
It also alleged that he received $797,900 through his account with Guaranty Trust Bank, said to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
The commission further alleged that the defendants conspired to conceal the origin of $10,000 in 2019. Both have pleaded not guilty.
It said the Kaduna State High Court, presided over by Darius Khobo, adjourned the bail ruling, adding that the defendant would remain in custody pending the decision.
The commission also disclosed that the Federal High Court granted El-Rufai bail in the sum of ₦200 million with two sureties in like sum.
Conditions for the bail include the provision of a Kaduna-based surety with property worth ₦200 million, submission of an international passport, and an undertaking not to interfere with witnesses.
The ICPC reiterated its commitment to due process and assured that prosecution of the case would be pursued diligently.
