NNPP : Count us out of Ibadan national summit

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially distanced itself from the recently concluded opposition parties summit held in Ibadan, declaring clearly that it neither took part in the meeting nor authorised anyone to represent the party.

The National Chairman, Dr Agbo Major, made this clarification during a world press conference in Abuja.

He described reports linking the NNPP to the coalition gathering as misleading, urging the public to disregard them.

“The NNPP as a registered political party wishes to categorically distance itself from the just concluded opposition parties summit held in Ibadan by the coalition group which is being reported in the media,” he said.

Dr. Major further emphasised that the party had no official presence at the meeting.

“Let it be clearly stated that none of the recognised leaders of our great party attended that gathering, nor was the party represented in any official capacity.”

He explained that the presence of certain expelled former members at the event should not be interpreted as participation or endorsement by the party.

“The presence of notable faces of our expelled members should not be misconstrued to mean membership of our great party in the coalition,” he added.

The NNPP chairman also cautioned leaders of the coalition to properly verify individuals claiming to represent the party.

“We therefore call on the leadership of the coalition to be cautious and ensure that impostors do not use the name of the NNPP to deceive them and demand unmerited relevance or favour,” Dr. Major stressed.

He reaffirmed that the party remains focused on preparations for the 2027 general elections, noting that its electronic membership registration exercise, launched two weeks ago, has recorded encouraging progress nationwide.

“Our goal remains to build a credible, technology-driven political institution that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians,” he said.
Expressing confidence ahead of the elections, Dr. Major described the NNPP as “the beautiful bride” going into the 2027 polls.

He also invited politicians across the country to join the party, stating: “Any politician who believes in the idea of a New Nigeria is invited to join us and run for positions up to the presidential level.”
