The face-off between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and activist Aisha Yesufu has taken a fresh twist as his aide Lere Olayinka tagged her ‘idoti’ on X.
Apparently this development comes after a series of exchanges between Wike and Yesufu, which began when the minister publicly referenced Yesufu’s failed attempt to secure a senatorial ticket in the Federal Capital Territory. The activist responded by revisiting Wike’s own political setbacks, including his failed bid for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential ticket in 2022, deepening the personal tone of the feud.
Olayinka on his X account simply wrote:
“Those who know @AishaYesufu should tell her that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has gone past the level of mentioning the names of dirty and smelly people on live television. She needs to try and clean herself up first abeg. DAZZOL.”
This has led to mixed reactions online.
@tiamiyu_af criticised the tone of political discourse, arguing that arrogance had become common among political actors and their supporters, while @tonitlc called the statement “despicable.”
@IfeanyiAnyiam18 dismissed the comment as childish, and @AmahOdiete went further, using strongly worded language to condemn Olayinka.
Some reactions also shifted into political accusations. @KuroPk referenced a previous post by Olayinka about voter registration data and questioned him over alleged access to INEC information, while @VoteAgainstRice recalled past claims about his conduct.
Some commentators defended Wike, with @okezie2000 describing him as a “political god” and dismissing criticism of Yesufu as irrelevant.
The latest exchange has added another layer to the already tense public dispute between Wike and Yesufu, which has increasingly played out on social media and drawn in aides and supporters from both sides.
As previously reported, the feud intensified after Wike publicly referenced Yesufu’s political ambitions, prompting a sharp rebuttal from the activist. Since then, both figures have continued to exchange criticisms, with their supporters amplifying the confrontation online.
Neither Wike nor Aisha Yesufu had issued a direct response to Olayinka’s latest remarks at the time of filing this report.
