Big Brother Naija officially returned on Sunday night with the launch of its 11th season. Twenty-four contestants, who will compete over the next 72 days for a record grand prize worth ₦160 million, were unveiled.
Hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the new edition is themed “Everything Is For The Taking”, also known as “Show Ya Sef”, and promises bigger rewards, fresh twists and a redesigned house as contestants battle for the coveted title.
The eventual winner will walk away with ₦100 million in cash and an SUV, making it the largest prize package in the history of the reality television franchise.
The premiere introduced viewers to contestants drawn from different professions and backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, lawyers, creatives, broadcasters, students, engineers and business owners, all hoping to outwit one another in the coming weeks.
Housemates
Among the first housemates to enter the house was Tram, a 24-year-old streamer from Lagos, who made it clear that his focus was winning the competition rather than finding romance. He was followed by Temi Nkem, a 21-year-old model raised in London, who described herself as someone who lives life on her own terms.
One of the night’s biggest talking points came from Abi, a 25-year-old chef and model from Osun State, whose revelation that she is married quickly sparked reactions online.
Martins, a 30-year-old visual storyteller from Kogi State, also attracted attention after disclosing that he is in a relationship despite joining the show.
Other contestants include Chimsom Chuka, Keivo, Mercedes, Kamsi, Sultex, Aikou, Flora, Bells, Gerard, Oyin, Sheba, Araga, Ricky, Nomy, Barry, Neche, Yusuf, Goddessa, Bluethopia and Cassi.
Several housemates spoke about their plans and strategies ranging from forming alliances to embracing romance, while others insisted they would remain focused solely on winning the competition.
Beyond the contestants, this year’s edition also unveiled a newly redesigned BBNaija house featuring an “upside-down” concept with bold colours and luxury interiors intended to reflect the unpredictable nature of the season.
According to MultiChoice, constructing the house is a months-long undertaking involving concept development, design, sourcing and construction before an empty building is transformed into a fully equipped television production facility.
Located beside the live studio in Lagos, the house is fitted with 52 robotic PTZ cameras, seven handheld cameras, 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades and 19 speakers to enable uninterrupted coverage of activities throughout the season.
The organisers said the annual production employs more than 1,000 Nigerians, including engineers, carpenters, electricians, decorators, camera operators, technical crews, caterers and other support personnel.
The Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa, Atinuke Babatunde, said Season 11 builds on the programme’s legacy of authentic storytelling with higher stakes, new twists and a fresh mix of personalities expected to keep audiences entertained until the finale.
The launch generated immediate buzz across social media, with discussions centred on the contestants’ personalities, relationships and first impressions as viewers began predicting early favourites.
BBNaija Season 11 succeeds the 2025 edition, won by Imisi.

VIDEO: Why Funke Akindele Is Strict On Set —Afeez Oyetoro
Nollywood actor Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has explained why actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is regarded as a strict person on set.
Oyetoro, who said he had worked with Akindele on several projects, described her as caring, humble and highly committed to her work.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actor said Akindele’s strictness was mainly driven by her desire to ensure that everyone involved in a production performed their responsibilities properly.
“I have worked with Funke a lot, and she treated me really well. Funke Akindele treated me very well,” he said.
According to him, Akindele has every reason to demand professionalism from crew members because she handles multi-million-naira projects.
“For someone who is handling a multi-million project, someone can’t just be slacking off. Yet, she is caring. Funke is caring, and she is humble. She doesn’t tolerate nonsense at all.
“That’s why people say she’s strict, but she’s only strict when necessary. If you do what you are supposed to do, she won’t be strict with you,” Oyetoro said.
He stressed that filmmaking is a collaborative effort, noting that the failure of one person to perform their duty could affect the entire production.
“If you are working on a project, everybody is supposed to play their part and play it well. Not that someone will be slacking off, because this work is a collaborative effort.
“If someone is supposed to pick up a pin over there and fails to do so, it will affect another person,” he added.
Oyetoro also praised Akindele for showing concern when issues arise on set, saying her approach reflects her personality.
“When you look at it, it’s big money. Millions! So, when it comes to the work to be done, she does it for entertainment.
“If you are working and something happens, she’ll say, ‘Ah! Hold on, hold on. What happened? Bring that.’ She shows care.
“A person’s character seeps out. That is what I observed about her. I don’t know about others, but what I observed about her, that’s what I’m talking about.”
The actor further maintained that Akindele’s intolerance for laziness should not be mistaken for a lack of care.
“I have nothing against Funke Akindele. The way she is, she is okay. Anyone who is sluggish, who is lazy, who doesn’t do their job, who doesn’t take their work seriously, Funke doesn’t like that at all.
“Funke doesn’t like laziness, any form of laziness,” he said.

Popular content creator, Peller publicly calls out dad for being gay
Popular content creator Peller calls out Father for the leaked video showing him in bed with another man, showing they were either having fun or simply just friends, but people on social media would not let the video slide.
In a video made by Peller, he said, “I’m tired of all my family members suddenly wanting to join social media. I can’t believe people are now calling my father gay just because he was lying on a bed with another man doesn’t automatically mean he’s gay.
People are too quick to jump to conclusions and at this point, I’m tired.
“Dad, how many times did i call you to stop sleeping with your fellow man? This is what my mom has been complaining about for years, and you haven’t changed.
Don’t you know this is affecting me as your son? Most of my fans have been criticizing me on TikTok that my father is gày. I’m not happy about this at all”
