Founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of his mother, Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome, describing her as a major influence on his life, faith and upbringing.
Pastor Chris spoke during the ongoing Global Day of Prayer, where he reflected on his mother’s life and the Christian values she instilled in him and his siblings. 
Rather than dwell solely on the pain of her death, the renowned preacher focused on gratitude, recalling the lessons, discipline and spiritual foundation he received from his parents.
He said the opportunity to spend considerable time with his mother and siblings in the weeks leading up to her death allowed him to repeatedly express his appreciation for everything she had done for him.
According to him, his parents deliberately created a home where Christianity was central to the upbringing of their children.
Pastor Chris recalled how his mother taught him important values from childhood, including discipline, personal grooming and commitment to the Christian faith.
He said those seemingly simple childhood lessons played an important role in shaping the man he eventually became.
The LoveWorld founder described his late mother as a loving and exceptional woman, adding that members of the family frequently remarked on the physical resemblance between the two of them.
‘She is not lost’
Reflecting on his mother’s death, Pastor Chris explained that his Christian faith had shaped his understanding of death and the transition from earthly life.
He said he did not consider his mother to have been lost, but believed she had transitioned from this life to be with the Lord.
The cleric also urged his siblings and other family members to remain grateful for the life their mother lived and the years they were privileged to spend with her.
He noted that many people lose their parents much earlier in life, stressing the importance of appreciating the time spent with loved ones.
Pastor Chris said the family would announce details of Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome’s funeral arrangements in due course.
Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome was also the mother of Rev. Ken Oyakhilome and Kathy Woghiren.
Her death has prompted tributes from members of the LoveWorld family and others who knew her, as the family mourns the woman Pastor Chris credited with helping lay the foundation for his faith and character.
