Atiku made the promises on Thursday during an address at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

He vowed to ensure prompt publication of results from every polling unit and prosecute anyone involved in vote buying or result manipulation, irrespective of political affiliation.

He also urged Nigerians to protect their votes, resist intimidation and thoroughly scrutinise candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that campaign promises must come with measurable plans.

“The coming election offers us a peaceful way to choose our course. This country is yours,” he said.

On the economy, the former vice president promised to reduce the prices of food, petrol and electricity while improving healthcare, education and transportation. He also pledged to tackle insecurity, create jobs and ensure transparency in public spending.

Atiku proposed a budgeted and capped subsidy for locally refined petrol, including products from modular refineries, while excluding imported fuel. According to him, the arrangement would translate into reduced pump prices for consumers.

“We will publish the costs, independently audit the payments and cut government waste to help fund the programme,” he stated.

He further called for the fair application of the law, citing the detention of Sheikh Sani Khalifa Zaria and Malam Nasir El-Rufai as cases raising concerns about due process. He also stressed that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s right to appeal his conviction must be respected.

Atiku urged Nigerians to hold elected officials accountable, demanding transparency in budgets, project execution and governance.

He maintained that his proposed administration would prioritise economic relief, public safety, job creation and the protection of democratic institutions.
