The ECOWAS Parliament, the legislative arm representing the peoples of the West African community, has received the President of Senegal and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.

Faye’s visit to the regional legislature provided an opportunity for the ECOWAS Parliament and the Authority of Heads of State and Government to reaffirm their shared commitment to regional integration and democratic governance.

The engagement also focused attention on efforts to strengthen ECOWAS institutions and deepen cooperation between the Community’s political leadership and its parliamentary arm.

The visit underscored the importance of closer institutional collaboration as ECOWAS continues its efforts to advance regional integration and build institutions that remain responsive to the needs and aspirations of West African citizens.

The Parliament, known as the Assembly of the Peoples of the Community, used the engagement to reinforce its role in promoting democratic governance and supporting the objectives of the regional bloc.

The visit also highlighted the continuing need for stronger cooperation among ECOWAS institutions in advancing peace, stability and development across the sub-region.
