Nigeria’s Flamingos have been crowned champions of the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup after a commanding 4-0 victory over Togo in the final in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian side completed a flawless campaign, winning all five of their matches without defeat to underline their dominance throughout the tournament.
Captain Chidera Harmony delivered a standout performance in the final, scoring twice from the penalty spot to put Nigeria firmly in control before the break.
Harmony opened the scoring in the 15th minute after converting Nigeria’s first penalty. She doubled the advantage 20 minutes later, calmly dispatching another spot-kick to give the Flamingos a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Nigeria maintained their control after the restart, dictating the tempo and limiting Togo’s chances of mounting a comeback.
Oluebube Umejiaku added a third goal in the 67th minute, putting the result beyond serious doubt and bringing the Flamingos closer to the title.
With Togo unable to respond, Nigeria continued to push forward in search of another goal. Their persistence paid off in the 90th minute when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi found the net to complete a convincing 4-0 triumph.
The victory sealed Nigeria’s fifth win in five matches and capped a remarkable tournament campaign built on attacking firepower and defensive discipline.
The WAFU-B title further underlines the Flamingos’ strength at the youth level as they continue to establish themselves as one of the region’s leading sides.
