The Kuma Traditional Council in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State has suspended the District Head of Wurbo Gashiri, Alhaji Babaji Abubakar Garba Jugulde, following his son’s refusal to withdraw from the 2027 Gembu State Constituency House of Assembly race.
Jugulde was suspended on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, amid allegations that he acted contrary to the rules of the traditional council and engaged in activities described as “anti-governmental.”
The suspension was contained in a letter issued by the Office of the Mbondua, Kuma Traditional Council, and obtained by SaharaReporters.
The development comes against the backdrop of political tensions surrounding the 2027 election in Gembu State Constituency, where the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Abdulazeez Suleiman Titong, is seeking another term.
Sources familiar with the development said the suspension was linked to the district head’s son, Hon. Auwal Babaji Jugulde, who is contesting the constituency seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has reportedly refused to abandon his ambition.
According to one of the sources, the district head was accused of acting outside the traditional council’s rules and engaging in activities considered “anti-governmental.”
The council, however, said the suspension was not final, stressing that an investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations before a final decision or further measures are taken.
The letter, dated October 21, 2026, and referenced KTC/SLGAITR, was addressed to Babaji Abubakar Garba Jugulde and titled “Suspension Letter.”
It read in part: “This is to notify you that you have been suspended from the District Head of Wurbo Gashiri, Kuma Chiefdom by the traditional council members, with effect from today, the 21st October, 2026.”
The council cited two reasons for the suspension.
It alleged that Jugulde had been “acting outside the rules of traditional council by doing things according to your wish.”
It also accused him of “playing anti-governmental role,” which it said was contrary to the provisions of the traditional council’s guidelines and rules.
“However, proper investigation shall be carried out by the council to ascertain your action/activities before the final resolution or proper measures,” the letter added.
The council did not state whether the suspension was directly connected to the political activities of the district head’s son, but sources said the dispute over Auwal Jugulde’s ADC candidacy was central to the development.
