Senator Haruna Manu, representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, has donated 350 solar-powered streetlights to communities in Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and security across his constituency.
The latest intervention is aimed at providing reliable community lighting, particularly in areas where access to public electricity remains limited.
The solar streetlights are expected to improve visibility at night, enhance security and create safer environments for residents and businesses in the benefiting communities.
The donation comes shortly after a similar intervention in Sabon Gida, Gassol Local Government Area, where the senator provided more than 300 solar-powered streetlights.
The interventions form part of Manu’s constituency development efforts, with community lighting identified as a key component of improving public safety and supporting socio-economic activities after dark.
Residents of the benefiting communities are expected to enjoy improved movement at night, while the solar-powered system is expected to provide an alternative source of street lighting without relying entirely on the national electricity grid.
