Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, alleged that Atiku had promised to make Douglas Nigeria’s First Lady if he won the election.

The senator made the claim on Monday while speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.

Oshiomhole said he was responding to Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that political opponents should not attack the President without expecting a response.

According to him, Atiku married Douglas after allegedly promising that she would become First Lady if he won the presidential election.

“Like somebody said the other day, Atiku went to the Southeast and said, ‘If I win the election, your daughter would be the First Lady.’ That was when he married Jennifer,” Oshiomhole said.

He further alleged that Atiku established a foundation for Douglas but later divorced her after losing the election.

“Because he likes abusing our President, we must reply. He married Jennifer, set up a foundation for her and, at the end of the day, he lost the election and went ahead to divorce Jennifer. He took her to court, is that not true?” he said.

Oshiomhole urged APC supporters to respond firmly to attacks against Tinubu, saying political leaders should be prepared to defend their principals when they are criticised.

“We must have the courage to mention their names if they have no respect to mention our leader’s name,” he added.

Atiku, a former Vice President, is the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, while Tinubu is seeking re-election on the APC platform.
