Obaseki Barred Me From Entering Into Edo State – Shaibu
The reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has alleged that his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, barred him from entering into the state.
Recall Shaibu and Obaseki have been at loggerheads for a year now, over issues regarding the governorship election in the state.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, two days after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his reinstatement as deputy governor, Shaibu declared that he is a free-born of Edo state and nobody can deny him entry.
He said, “Yesterday, I got intel that the governor has told his men that they must not allow me into town. I am a free-born of Edo State, nobody can stop me from entering Edo State.
“The constitution does not allow anybody to bar me from entering Edo State, not even when I am a deputy governor. Even if I am an ordinary citizen, I should have a right. I should have freedom.”
Speaking further, Shaibu said he would work hard to preserve the institution of the office of the deputy governor that Obaseki is destroying for personal gain
He added, “One of my main cardinal goals is to strengthen institutions. I am seeing the institution of the office of the deputy governor being destroyed by the governor for personal gain.
“That is why I am fighting to bring back the sanity of the office of the deputy governor not for my personal self. The governor has not paid me for the past year and I know he is not going to pay me for the remaining four months.”

PDP leaders, critical stakeholders endorse Hon. Teejay Yusuf for National Chairman
Key political figures and critical stakeholders from the North Central region of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rallied behind Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf as their preferred candidate for the party’s next National Chairman.
The endorsement comes from the group known as the PDP Conscience Vanguard, who believe Yusuf is the key to uniting and revitalizing the main opposition party
In a statement issued on Thursday in Lokoja, the North Central Coordinator of the group, Isaiah Akoh, emphasized that Hon. Yusuf possesses the experience, leadership qualities, charisma, extensive connections necessary to lead the PDP towards unity and strategic repositioning.
The statement outlined several reasons for their endorsement of Hon. Yusuf, particularly noting that the party’s future success lies in having a chairman from the North Central region.
The group pointed to his extensive political background and ability to bridge gaps within the party, especially in light of the challenges the PDP faces.
“We believe that Hon. Teejay Yusuf is the right candidate at this crucial moment,” the statement reads. “Yusuf is not merely a legislator; he is an experienced statesman with a proven track record. Serving three terms as the representative of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and political acumen.”
