Water is safe’ – Osun Osogbo Priests debunks rumour
By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
The Ifa priests in charge of the 2024 Osun Osogbo festival have debunked the rumour surrounding the use and safety of the Osun Osogbo River.
According to the Head of worshippers of Osun Osogbo, Prince Osunyemi Ifarinu on Monday at the Ataoja Palace, the adherents insist that the water is safe for whatever anyone wants to use it for.
He said, “We heard some rumours about some information that some people said they should not drink the Osun herbs (water), these are just baseless rumours.
“They said some people said it in the news and radio, that they shouldn’t make use of the water, the water is mysterious and heals all kinds of ailments, anybody that want to use it, can use it, they can bring kegs to take the water home, it is a spiritual water”, he explained further.
Ifasola Osungbemi Oladipo, the Aworo of Osogbo land also emphasised on the importance of the spiritual water while urging those who spread rumours to desist from spreading any rumours about the water.
“The news concerning the water is actually false and you know, it works in a very mysterious way. So I would urge people not to fall for whatsoever rumors they’ve heard about the water being corrupted with some sort of disease such as cholera, it heals all kinds of diseases”, he concluded.
The 2024 Osun Osogbo festival is set to hold from the 29th of July to the 9th of August 2024.
