Discovering God’s purpose brings fulfillment – Bishop Oyedepo
The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has emphasized that discovering and walking in God’s plan for his life has brought him ultimate fulfillment, both personally and in his ministry.
He shared this reflection during a special concert, prayer, and outreach event organized by senior pastors in celebration of his 70th birthday.
The event, themed “Legacy of Bishop Oyedepo at 70,” took place at the National Stadium in Lagos, drawing notable pastors, ministers, and thousands of attendees.
In his message, Oyedepo highlighted the importance of living in obedience to God’s purpose, stressing that true fulfillment for Christians lies in prioritizing God’s will. He said, “When God is at work, the results are always amazing. I have never prayed for material things like cars or houses, but I know that as I seek first His kingdom, God adds everything else I need.”
He urged believers to invest deeply in studying and living by the Word of God, describing it as the ultimate guide to securing a fulfilling life and future. He added, “Living by the Word of God is not common sense, it’s Bible sense. When you live by Scripture, you secure your future. There are mysteries in following God’s plan, and by prioritizing His kingdom, you become a wonder to the world.”
Bishop Oyedepo also called on young ministers to use their gifts, time, and energy to advance the gospel, stressing the need for them to rise and take responsibility for spreading the message of salvation globally. He said, “It’s time for the younger generation to step up and take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Use your gifts to serve the Lord, and you will never regret it.”
In attendance were several dignitaries, including Pastor Yemi Davids, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos Chapter. Davids explained that the event was organized to honor Bishop Oyedepo and to give back to the community. He stated, “This is a collective effort of pastors in Lagos, and our aim was to honor Bishop Oyedepo and impact society positively through charitable acts, such as distributing relief materials to 5,000 families.”
The event’s host, Senior Pastor of Eden Centre, Dr. Akin Akinpelu, explained that the goal of the programme was to celebrate Bishop Oyedepo’s contributions to Christianity and soul-winning efforts. He said, “This legacy project was focused on winning souls, worship through a concert, and providing relief materials to thousands of families. It was our way of honoring a man who has ushered in a new season in ministry.”
The occasion was graced by prominent ministers, including Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Femi Lazarus, Pastor Sola Osunmakinde, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, Pastor Godman Akinlabi, Pastor Flourish Peters, Apostle Emmanuel Iren, and gospel artists like Tope Alabi and Bidemi Olaoba, among others. The event underscored the enduring legacy of Bishop Oyedepo, whose influence continues to inspire and impact generations across Nigeria and beyond.
