Nigerian Air Force Officer Gets Sword Of Honour In UK College
Flying Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has received the prestigious International Cadet Sword of Honour from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom.
He earned this distinction for being the top international student and overall best performer in the Leadership and Training Course for the 2023-2024 academic year. With this achievement, Flying Officer Sangokoya becomes the first cadet from Africa to receive this honor in over a century since the academy’s establishment.
At a commendation ceremony held at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja on October 7, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar hailed Sangokoya’s accomplishment as “truly ground-breaking.”
He emphasised that this achievement showcases the excellence within the Nigerian Air Force and demonstrates that its officers can compete at the highest global standards.
Air Marshal Abubakar noted that Sangokoya has set a new benchmark for future cadets and officers, stating that his success is a testament to the power of dedication, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.
“Your journey as an officer is just beginning with this prestigious accolade, but the true measure of your success will be in how you serve and contribute to the Nigerian Air Force and the defense of our nation,” he remarked.
The Air Chief also expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom Government for its continued support in offering world-class training opportunities for NAF personnel.
He highlighted that this collaboration has equipped NAF officers with essential skills and knowledge, enhancing both bilateral relations and the capacity to tackle global security challenges.
