Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 2025 edition of the Entertainment and African Excellence Awards (EAEA), clinching four prestigious continental trophies at the event held over the weekend.
Davido, whose artistry and influence continue to shape Africa’s contemporary music landscape, secured major victories across multiple top categories. He won Continental Artist of the Year (Africa), reaffirming his dominance as one of the continent’s most celebrated performers. He also took home the award for Best Continental Male Artist (Africa), further solidifying his standing as a leading force in the Afrobeats genre.
His acclaimed album, “5IVE”, which has enjoyed significant streaming success and widespread critical praise since its release, was named Continental Album of the Year, marking one of the night’s most anticipated wins. The project has been hailed for its cohesive sound, rich production quality, and its blend of Afrobeats with global influences, earning Davido accolades from fans and industry stakeholders alike.
Adding to his impressive haul, Davido also won Best Continental Collaboration for his hit single “WITH YOU”, a fan-favourite track that dominated charts across Africa and beyond. The collaboration, celebrated for its cross-border fusion and chemistry between featured artists, has been described as one of 2025’s standout musical partnerships.
The four awards capped off a memorable night for Davido and his 30BG team, who expressed gratitude to fans worldwide for their support. His triumph at the EAEA Awards 2025 reaffirms his status as a global ambassador of African music and underscores his continued influence in pushing the continent’s sound to new heights.
Music lovers, colleagues, and industry watchers have since flooded social media with congratulatory messages, celebrating the singer’s achievements and the growing global recognition of African music.
With these wins, Davido adds another remarkable milestone to his already decorated career, setting the tone for an even more impactful year ahead.
Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has revealed why he broke up with his ex-girlfriend, claiming that she was “quite manipulative”.
In an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Rema said the relationship was “beautiful” but not always peaceful.
The singer lamented that sometimes when he returns home hoping to rest from the pressure of the outside world, his then girlfriend often greeted him with chaos.
He said he eventually walked away when he could no longer tolerate her excesses.
“My romantic relationship was beautiful but a little quite manipulative. So much pressure. Knowing the world puts so much pressure on me but coming back home is where you want to feel relieved but when you come back home and you are getting more pressure, it’s a different story. For now, I’m done,” he said.
Actress Regina Daniels revealed that she has emotionally stepped away from marriage but still hopes to have a daughter.
Speaking during a livestream with TikTok personality Jarvis, Daniels reflected on motherhood and relationships.
She revealed she has not seen her children since last year, though she remains hopeful they will reunite soon.
The mother of two explained that for personal reasons, she no longer envisions remarrying.
However, she expressed a strong desire to have a baby girl. According to her, raising a daughter offers a deeper connection to motherhood.
Daniels said having a female child brings a different and more profound understanding of being a mother.
“The last time I saw my children was last year. I know one day, I’ll see them again, very soon. But for some reason I have checked my mind out of getting married but I’m yet to have a girl and I must have a girl child. I feel like you’d understand motherhood better when you have a girl child”, she said.
In October last year, she parted ways with her husband, Ned Nwoko, following a public disagreement.
Popular Nigerian Afrobeat musician, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has raised alarm over an alleged plot to deregister Accord party ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The singer made the claim a post on X on Thursday.
Why questioning reasons for the deregistration, Davido called for free and fair election.
He wrote; “Deregister Accord party for what? Cowards let’s go to the field.”
This is coming 48 hours after the singer called out Gboyega Oyetola, the minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and the immediate past governor of the state over alleged desperate plan.
Recall that Osun State’s current governor and Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in December 2025 following the party’s national leadership crisis and legal dispute and joined Accord Party for his re-election.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026.
