The traditional ruler who commended them for returning home to bury their patriarch, encouraged the family to continue to maintain strong ties with Ekiti State, expressing optimism about the state’s future development.

“I am glad to welcome you to my palace. DIG Akeredolu was a great person. It would be good if someone does not die on earth, but he did very well while he was here.

“We thank you and we are grateful for this visit. Try as much as possible to visit Ekiti often. By the time you come next, it would have been more developed than this,” the monarch added.

Late DIG Theophilus Adetunji Akeredolu passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 83.
