Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Bright Abeke, in Delta State.
The council boss was reportedly kidnapped at a hotel located along Owumi Road in Sapele, where he had lodged.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, who arrived in a Range Rover, opened fire on his security detail before forcefully taking him to an undisclosed location. 
During the attack, one of the Chairman’s security aides was shot.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the condition of the injured aide remains unknown.
The incident has triggered panic among residents, with many calling on security agencies to urgently intervene.
There are growing demands for authorities to block all entry and exit routes in Sapele to aid rescue efforts and apprehend the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been released by authorities regarding the development.
