Nigeria and South Korea have stepped up diplomatic engagement ahead of the forthcoming Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers Meeting scheduled to take place in Seoul, as both countries seek to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy, technology and strategic development.

The discussions followed a meeting in Abuja between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, Mr Tak Namgung.

The high-level summit is expected to bring together ministers and representatives from all 54 African countries as part of efforts to sustain momentum generated by the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit.

Central issues expected to dominate discussions include cooperation in critical minerals, energy security and supply chain development, particularly in response to growing global geopolitical and economic uncertainties.

The meeting will also focus on expanding economic and strategic partnerships between African countries and South Korea, with attention on trade, digital innovation, green transition and investment opportunities linked to the objectives outlined during the 2024 summit.

Naijablitznews.com reports that the engagement reflects increasing interest in stronger Africa-Asia partnerships as countries seek new opportunities for economic growth, technology exchange and regional development.
