Elon Musk’s Neuralink hammered as it could be fatal for users

An expert believes Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain chips are nothing more than “invasive brain-computers” which could kill its users.

With human testing approved on the controversial implant, Ryan Merkley told the Daily Star he has concerns over the “track record of sloppy, rushed experiments” at Musk’s neurotechnology company.

Recruitment for the PRIME study – which would see subjects fitted with the animal tested chip – is underway though Director of Research Advocacy for the Physicians Committee has warned patients should be “wary” of testing the chip which promises technological control through thought.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Director Merkley said: “There is always the possibility that a device as invasive as Neuralink’s could be fatal to the patients involved. A lot of bioethicists are sceptical of highly invasive devices like Neuralink’s because of the risk they pose to patients.
