Tinubu, APC won’t be distracted by critics – Ganduje

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has charged Nigerians to look beyond the criticisms that have trailed the reforms of President Bola Tinubu, saying they were orchestrated to distract the people.

He spoke against the backdrop of growing public outcry over the rising cost of living in the country occasioned by the removal of subsidy and floating of the naira by the Tinubu government.

Ganduje made the appeal when he received a delegation of North Central leaders led by former Senate President, Senator Ameh Ebute, a former legislator from Benue State, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado, and Plateau State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, who came to the party secretariat on a solidarity visit.

Addressing journalists after the meeting,  Ganduje said despite the ‘attack’ hurled at the president, the APC would continue to support him to bring his Renewed Hope Agenda to fruition.

He said, “These assaults on Mr President, these assaults on Nigerians, we believe we will soon be out of these problems. We have to thank him for his Renewed Hope Agenda; efforts and commitment. We assure him we are 100 per cent for him.

“I am so happy that you realise the importance of having a stable political party that is focused, ready to win an election any time anywhere. There is no doubt that there is an opposition. But we believe with your cooperation, we will not continue to listen to undesirable elements who are not focused, who are not real party men and who want to see that we are in disarray.

“We have no place for that. We are people, politicians who are committed. We know we are forging ahead; so we thank you for these your resolutions. We thank you for your commitment.”

Reacting, Ebute said he was glad that Ganduje’s leadership had adopted technology and innovation in the management of the party affairs.

The former leader also reassured that elder statesmen and party leaders are happy with Tinubu’s administration and Ganduje’s exploits in the National Working Committee of the APC.

He said, “We are from communities in Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, FCT, and Kwara States. We have by our own free will decided to pay Your Excellency this solidarity visit because we believe this is the best time to physically express our appreciation for the great things you have been doing for our great party since you were sworn into the office of the National Chairman.”

Tilley-Gyado also passed a vote of confidence on Ganduje’s leadership, saying he is optimistic that he will lead the ruling party beyond 2027.
