A drug baron believed to be perhaps the biggest operator in Nigeria’s South-East has been nabbed in Abia State.
A source in the know of the successful operation informed News Express that the drug baron, a lawyer by profession, was nabbed during a surprise raid by a combined team of operatives of the Abia Homeland Security Watch and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
“The boss of the Abia Homeland Security led the operation, during which the combined team of security operatives stormed the stronghold of the drug baron here in Umuahia, the state capital, and arrested her. She is currently in custody,” the usually reliable source told News Express this Thursday morning, February 15, 2024.
The source described the suspect as being from an infamous Abia family, adding that she worked in concert with her aged mother to deflect attention from her nefarious activities.

“Some of the drugs recovered by the security operatives include Meth (Mkpuru mmiri). They flushed some of the illicit drugs down the toilet during the invasion but the security operatives were able to seize large quantities of them,” the source said.
The breakthrough, according to the source, is expected to be formally announced at a press conference scheduled to hold later this afternoon.
