Delta Assembly Passes Bill to Amend Delta State Polytechnic Burutu

The bill for a law to amend the Delta State Polytechnic, Burutu 2023 and other related purposes has been passed into law.

During Thursday’s sitting, the bill was read for the second and third time and unanimously passed by all members of the house.

The bill sought to add the word “maritime” to the name of the polytechnic and was moved to be passed into law by the deputy majority leader, Hon. Festus Okoh.

He emphasized the importance of the “maritime” sector remaining an attraction and maintaining its professionalism, as initially intended.

Other members of the house, including Preyor Oboro, Charles Emetulu, and Anthony Alapala supported the bill and lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for listening to the concerns of Deltans, affirming, “When the righteous lead, the people rejoice”.

The primary advantage of the polytechnic, according to the consensus in the house, is that students graduate as maritime professionals, which sets it apart from other polytechnics.

Thus, when assented to, the Delta State Polytechnic, Burutu will be known as the “Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu”.

Speaker Emomotimi Guwor conveyed his appreciation to the legislators for swiftly passing the bill into law.
