Tragedy As Edo Vigilante Punches Blind Man’s Wife To Death

A member of Edo State Security vigilante Network, also known as vigilante, has reportedly punched a blind man’s wife, Mrs Mamuyonvre Iyamu to death in Oredo Local government Area of the state.
Recall that in February 2024, Governor Godwin Obaseki ordered compulsory re-accreditation of all 6500 personnel in the security outfit.
The incident was said to have happened on the night of March 2, 2024 at Bamawo street of Benin metropolis.
Trouble reportedly started when some aggrieved members of the security outfit in the area went to the residence of the victim and began to assault her son, nicknamed ‘Chibobo’ in the presence of his mother over delay in paying his N25,000 debt.
Sources told TheNewspad that attempts by the victim to stop the attack, one of the attackers, was said to have released a deadly blow to ‘Chibobo’ which mistakenly hit his mother’s chest.
The victim suddenly slammed her skull on a cement floor, and was left dead in the pool of her own blood by her attackers.
Some courageous neighbours were said to have rescued Mamuyonvre’s body on the floor and rushed her to at least three different hospitals for urgent medical attention before she gave up the ghost.
The alleged murderer, according to sources, fled along with Chibobo ― a welder whose visually impaired and crestfallen widower, Mr Iyamu, helpless.
But a vigilante Commander in-charge of the area has been arrested for culpable homicide by the police operatives who have also intensified a search to arrest Chibobo whose elder brother, ‘Mr Wisdom’ had paid N10,000 to his creditors ahead of the unfortunate incident.
Police were yet to confirm the incident as at when filing the report.
