Edo State deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has vehemently denied allegations by the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Blessing Agbebaku that he was deliberately evading service of impeachment notice by the legislature.
In a letter dated March 12 and addressed to Speaker Agbebaku through his Personal Assistant, Mr. Charles Olubayo, the deputy governor insisted that he was never served any letter of impeachment notice and as such, the issue of evading service was an unfounded.
Citing perjury and disclosure of government secrets at Wednesday March 6 plenary, Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Charity Aiguobarueghian had announced the impeachment notice against Comrade Shaibu, reportedly at the behest of Governor Godwin Obaseki, after the duo fell out following the refusal of the governor to support his face ambition.
Titled: Re: Service of Impeachment Notice, Comrade Shaibu disclosed that he has been away from Benin since March 3 when he traveled to Abuja.
The statement added that the allegation by the Speaker during plenary that he should be served the purported notice of Impeachment via publication in the Nigerian Observer and other newspapers was a misrepresentation and misinformation of facts.
