The Ghana High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, will next week open a condolence register for its late High Commissioner, Rashid Bawa.
Naijablitznews.com reports that the 65 years envoy died on Thursday 14 March, 2024 and has been flown back to Ghana for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Bawa was former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. He was a Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Akan Constituency of the Oti Region, from 7 January 2001 to 6 January 2005
In June 2017, President Akufo-Addo named Rashid Bawa who contested as an independent candidate to head Ghana’s High Commission in Nigeria among eight other distinguished Ghanaians who were named to head various diplomatic Ghanaian missions across the world.
The condolence register will be open as soon as the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. E.M. Agbenyegah who took the corpse of the high commissioner to Ghana for burial returns to Nigeria.
