Anxieties Rise in Ibadan Over Health of Former NURTW Chairman, Tokyo

Residents of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, are on edge as concerns grow regarding the health of Alhaji Lateef Akinsola, also known as Tokyo, a former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state.

Reports emerged on Saturday suggesting that Akinsola had passed away, prompting sympathizers to flock to his residence in Akobo, Ibadan to offer their condolences. However, one of his sons dispelled the rumors, stating that they were false.

Instead of providing details about his father’s condition, he shared a video recorded by renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal. In the video, Marshal vehemently refutes the report and pays tribute to Akinsola, who is known to be an avid fan.

The NURTW officials at the state level have not made any comments regarding Akinsola’s alleged demise. However, a source within Tokyo’s Akobo community revealed that the former union leader had indeed passed away, claiming that mourners had gathered at his residence in the evening.
