Ugochinyere: The Ignorant Rants of a Mercenary – Rivers State House of Assembly Spokesperson

…advise him to abandon his notorious penchant for “Nairacracy”

The Rivers State House of Assembly spokesperson, Hon Enemi George Alabo has carpeted Ikenga Ugochinyere over comments on Local Government issues describing him as a legislative neophyte and a political contractor.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the RSHA spokesperson apparently referring to the press briefing addressed by Hon Ugochinyere over the weekend where he overstepped his bounds and spoke out of ignorance.

Without mincing words in the State, the Rivers State House of Assembly member described Ugochinyere as: “Merchant Ikenga Ugochinyere, a legislative neophyte, who is a political contractor and an unabashed mercenary, was either not properly briefed by his clients or having been properly briefed, the comprehension of his assignment became a challenge for Ikenga Ugochinyere.

“The position of the already amended Local Government Administration Law of Rivers State is that the process has been concluded and the amended law transmitted to the governor for assent.

“The House of Assembly is waiting for the governor’s assent within the 30 days stipulated by the Constitution.
And we have no reason to think that the governor will not give his assent. The 30-day window hasn’t elapsed. Therefore, the House could not have overriden the governor’s veto as Ugochinyere ignorantly asserted.

“It is regrettable that a so-called
lawyer and federal lawmaker, who should ordinarily know the basics, wallows in such pitiable ignorance.

“But no discerning person is surprised at Ugochinyere’s shallowness. Having only been in the National Assembly for months, Ugochinyere’s preoccupations are mercenary jobs, clout-chasing, and making a public show of himself rather than buckling down to learn the intricacies of lawmaking

“He has not made any meaningful contribution on the floor of the House of Representatives where he sits. His own lawmaking is in the media, especially TV studios, mostly on errands for anyone foolish enough to engage him as a hired gun.

“I shouldn’t ordinarily dignify him with a response, having been privileged to know the process of his procurement for his current assignment and its consummation.

“Anyone who listened to his rambling and typically incoherent press briefing would have seen that his closing remarks gave him away as an unintelligent trader. Within the same briefing, Ugochinyere bemoaned the fate of local governments and blamed the governors, inclusive of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for strangulating local government administration in Rivers State, and urged him to urgently conduct local government elections that will usher in democratically elected local government chairmen at the third tier of government.

“Ugochinyere further slammed the governors, governor Fubara inclusive, asking them to honour the Nigerian constitution that guarantees separation of powers and allow the Rivers State House of Assembly to function.

“But as it is often the case with schizophrenic and grasping mercenaries, he then fluffed his lines by reprobating and approbating in the same breath.

“Being solely focused on pecuniary gains and lacking neither conviction nor understanding of his assignment, Ugochinyere went to engage in shameful self-contradiction. I don’t suppose that his paymasters found that funny.

“I advise Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, to abandon his notorious penchant for “Nairacracy” and embrace democracy. He should realise that lawmaking is serious business, not a vocation for rabble-rousing and pursuit of clout and filthy lucre.

“But I’m sure his press briefing has earned him the outstanding balance of his payment for the Rivers job.

“With the settlement of his invoice for that phase of his Rivers contract, merchant Ugochinyere should henceforth steer clear of all issues concerning Rivers State.

“There is so much begging for Ugochinyere’s attention in his native Imo State, a state that has remained in the throes of unimaginable mayhem for a few years now.

“But because Ugochinyere is a thoroughly degenerate mercenary motivated only by money, the nearly daily catastrophe in his own state does not excite his insatiate gut and fibbing tongue.
