Troops Raid Terrorists Kingpin Enclaves In North West, Silence Terrorists
The troops neutralised eight terrorists and recovered three locally fabricated guns, military uniforms
This is contained in a statement released on Monday, April 1, 2024, by the Nigerian Army’s official Facebook page, said the operations were conducted on March 29 and March 30.
It said the troops had in an operation conducted in Zamfara on March 29, successfully raided the den of a notorious terrorists’ kingpin, Hassan Yantagwaye, in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The statement added that Yantagwaye and his group had been responsible for kidnappings and acts of terrorism in some parts of North West Nigeria.
“During the operation, troops overpowered the terrorists in an ensuing gun battle, neutralising three of them and recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition and also destroyed the terrorists’ camps.
“In Katsina State, the gallant troops on March 30, engaged in a fierce gun battle with terrorists in Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II within Faskari Local Government Area.
“The troops neutralised eight terrorists and recovered three locally fabricated guns, military uniforms and a large quantity of stolen grains.
The army said its troops had also on March 29, intercepted 441 wraps of substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa at Molegede village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun.
It was gathered that the vigilant troops uncovered the illicit substances being conveyed in a Mazda Saloon car, after the smugglers absconded, abandoning the vehicle on sighting the troops.
“The vehicle and illicit products will be handed over to the appropriate agency after preliminary investigations.
“The troops conducting night patrols on March 31, encountered armed Effium militias along Urban Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Eboyin.
However, the troops overpowered the militias in combat engagement that followed and captured one of the militias.
Meanwhile, the troops also recovered one AK – 47 Rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition.
“The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the populace and will leave no stone unturned to rid the nation of terrorists and insurgents.
“The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has commended the bravery and dedication of the valiant troops in these successful operations.
“The Nigerian Army assures the public of its unwavering commitment in executing its constitutional responsibilities,” it added.

Access Bank Becomes First to Meet CBN’s Minimum Capital Requirement with N351bn Rights Issue

Access Holdings Plc has announced the successful completion of its Rights Issue, raising N351,009,103,017.25 through the issuance of 17,772,612,811 ordinary shares at N19.75 per share.
This achievement follows full regulatory approvals from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
With this milestone, Access Bank Plc, the flagship subsidiary of Access Holdings, is the first bank to meet the CBN’s N500 billion minimum capital requirement for banks with international authorisation, well ahead of the March 2026 deadline. The bank’s share capital now stands at N600 billion, exceeding the regulatory threshold by N100 billion.
This marks a significant achievement as Access Holdings is the first CBN-licensed financial holding company to execute a fully digital Rights Issue. The process utilised the Nigerian Exchange Group’s E-offer platform to provide shareholders with a seamless and efficient subscription experience, enhancing accessibility and participation.

I’m optimistic about Nigeria’s future, says Shettima
Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Government to national security, economic transformation, and the well-being of all citizens.
In a Christmas message on Wednesday, Shettima assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is resolute in its efforts to tackle critical issues such as security and economic challenges, as the country prepares for the coming year.
