By Francesca Hangeior, Abuja

A Catholic priest, Rev Father James Adokole Ali has urged Christians to imbibe the spirit of love and dwell together in unity at all times.

Father Ali gave this advice while delivering his sermon titled: “Ceased doubting and believe in God’s mercy” at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newsite Lugbe, Abuja on Sunday.

Father Ali who disclosed that the early disciples and Christians were outstanding because they lived in common and one accord said, God’s original intention was for man to put their divine gifts for unity, love and service.

He said, unfortunately, despite different societies and associations amongst Christian faithful in various worshiping communities, there is a hypocritical kind of unity in existence among christians.

Fr Ali who stressed that such practise in Christendom today was not what Christ prayed for added that bearing religious titles and belonging to faith groups without showing love was not good enough.

“We should as christians collaborate each other ,we need to condemn division among ourselves.

“The word of God is talking to us today, for you to succeed as a family, CWO member, Chiorister, CMO and a group in the church, you must shun every act of disunity. Christians are suffering today because of selfishness. We think about ourselves alone”, he said.

The Catholic priest further urged Christians not to relent in their faith but to always trust God on his promises, no matter the situations and circumstances they go through.

While stressing that the resurrection of Jesus Christ strengthens faith in God’s promises, he emphasised the need for Christians to remain resolute and firm in their fellowship with Christ, even in their suffering.

He added that Jesus resurrection establishes hope for all the hopeless and that there was nothing difficult for God to do for those who believe in him.
