BREAKING: Many feared dead as hoodlums attack passengers in Wukari
Three persons including a woman were killed on Monday while travelling from Sukundi to Wukari by suspected militiamen.
Two others who sustained various degrees of injuries in the attack escaped and are receiving treatment at Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari.
The attackers, who according to a survivor (name withheld) were suspected Tiv militias, killed the victims who rode motorcycles from Sukundi to Wukari for their family meeting.
She said after killing the deceased, the militias fled the scene with two of the motorcycles belonging to the victims to an unknown destination.
“The attackers carried guns, with three on each of their motorcycles they rode on,” she said.
It was gathered that those who were killed included Mr. Ya’ata Stephen, Mr. Tukur Yaba and Mrs. Karima Haruna.
The member representing Wukari II in the Taraba State House of Assembly Hon. Josiah Yaro called on both the state and the local government authorities to develop sustainable ways to end the killing in the area and communal clashes between the Jukun and Tiv.
The chairman Wukari local government area Mr. Dauda Samaila did not pick his phone as of the time of filing this report yesterday.
The acting public relations officer in Taraba State Command ASP James Lashenwhen said he was waiting for details of the incident from the divisional police officer (DPO) in Wukari.

Tinubu promotes acting COAS Oluyede to Lieutenant General

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday decorated the acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, as Lieutenant General.
It was gathered that the short ceremony took place in the President’s office complex at the State House, Abuja.
“President Tinubu decorates acting Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede, as Lt. General,” a snippet from the president’s communications team read Tuesday.
Tinubu had appointed Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff last Wednesday, even as his predecessor, Taoreed Lagbaja, remains indisposed for weeks.
