Sylvester Oromoni’s Death: Coroner Fixes Date To Release Inquest

The Corona inquest set up by thry Lagos State Government to investigate the mysterious death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jr, has fixed Monday April 15, 2024 to release its report to the public.

Oromoni Jr, a student at Down College in Lagos, died on November 30, 2021, as a result of an injuries sustained in an alleged attack by senior students of the school.

His death triggered widespread uproar which intensified demands for investigation about the mysterious death of the boy.

Following his death and the widespread of reactions and criticism, the Lagos State Government closed down the school and initiated a coroner inquest to probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, a process that commenced in January 2022.

It was learned that throughout the investigation, the Oromoni family was supported by a Human Rights lawyer, of Femi Falana (SAN) and he diligently pursued the truth and justice.

It was further learnt that, though the school management has tried all means to subvert justice, the family has been steadfast and committed to seeking justice at any cost, not only for their son but also for all victims of negligence within the nation’s educational institutions.

They are hopeful that the inquiry’s results would uncover the actual events leading to Sylvester Jr.’s mysterious death and will also bring about accountability and reforms in Nigeria’s educational system.
