Armed Policemen, Vigilantes Chase Away Security Personnel at Shaibu’s Residence, Dismantle Post

The security personnel kept watch as the driver of the earth moving machine revved the engine, which roared thunderously, moving up and down. demolishing the green tent, which served as refuge from the elements for the security men.

The security post, manned by a team of policemen and personnel from the Department of State Security (DSS) has been a regular feature on the street, right behind the Benin Golf Course in the last seven years, since Comrade Shaibu was sworn in as Edo number two citizen.

Several attempts to speak with the stern looking security personnel were rebuffed but a close source however confided that the order to dismantle the security post was from above.

Also, determined efforts to speak with the Edo State Police spokesman, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, superintendent of police, proved futile as his mobile phone was serially engaged.

It would be recalled that 18 out of the 24 lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly voted Monday, April 8 to impeach Comrade Shaibu over allegations of perjury and disclosure of government secrets.

The former deputy governor who denounced the action, reportedly at the behest of Governor Godwin Obaseki, is presently in court to seek redress.

Comrade Shaibu insisted that he will fight what he termed injustice with every strength in him for the sake of Edo State and the future of democracy.
