DANA AIR: How Skillful Pilots Prevented What Would Have Been A Terrible Crash

By Kayode Sanni-Arewa

In the early hours of Tuesday 23rd April, 2024, a Dana Air flight with registration number 5N BKI skidded off the runway in Lagos. Heroically, the pilots navigated the plane to a stop without a crash, leaving all passengers and flight crew members on board with no injuries.

The flight coming in from Abuja skidded off the runway at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos on Tuesday morning due to the early showers of rain. It’s unfortunate that the wet runway caused the incident, but thankfully, everyone on board was safe.

Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, the Head of Corporate Communications at Dana Air, confirmed that the incident has been reported to the appropriate authorities, AIB and NCAA. He also mentioned that the maintenance team has grounded flight 5N BKI until a proper investigation and maintenance can be conducted. Safety is their top priority.
