In a well coordinated operation, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the Nigerien Air Force, executed precise air interdiction strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Damasak and Mobbar Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State on April 23, 2024.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the successful operation.
He said that the mission was orchestrated in response to a terrorist assault on troops of Sector 4 of the MNJTF stationed in Lada, a border town between Niger Republic and Nigeria.

Gabkwet further said that the pursuit of the fleeing insurgents, mounted on eight motorcycles, led authorities to identify their presence in two distinct locations: Zarri village, located approximately 28 km east of Damasak, and Mala Alide in Mobbar LGA of Borno State.
Evidently, the terrorists had clandestinely entrenched themselves in these villages, camouflaging their motorcycles amidst the foliage.
Under the vigilant surveillance of Niger’s Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, precision airstrikes were launched by the Air Component of OPHK and the Nigerien Air Force, targeting the designated terrorist enclaves.
Subsequent analysis of real-time ISR footage corroborated the effective neutralization of numerous terrorists and the substantial degradation of their infrastructure within the targeted areas.
Gabkwet emphasized the enduring collaborative efforts between the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerien Air Force, fortified by the MNJTF, which have consistently yielded commendable results in the relentless fight against terrorism and the suppression of trans-border criminal activities.
Such synchronized operations play an instrumental role in fortifying security and fostering stability across the region.
