The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has verified that three individuals have lost their lives, with two others sustaining injuries, following the collapse of a three-story building under construction in Kuntau Quarters, located in the Gwale local government area of Kano State.
The incident occurred around 9:20 am on Friday, trapping several laborers and carpenters who were working at the construction site under the rubble.
Dr. Nuradeen Abdullahi, NEMA’s Kano Territorial Coordinator, confirmed the incident, providing details of the casualties to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Five people have been rescued and taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

According to leadership Newspaper, rescue operation is ongoing, with responders working tirelessly to free any remaining trapped individuals.
Teams from NEMA, the Kano State Fire Service, the police, Red Cross, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) are all collaborating at the scene to conduct rescue operations.
The cause of the collapse remains undetermined as of the time of this report.”
