The House of Representatives has directed the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to suspend the implementation of the recent tariff hike affecting B and A customers pending an investigation by the House.
The House also resolved to set up a special committee to probe the power sector.
This resolution is sequel to a motion of urgent public importance by Rep. Kama Nkem-Kanma on Tuesday at plenary.
Rep. Nkem-Kanma, debating the motion, faulted the arbitrary hike in the tariff and the discriminatory nature of the policy.
Naijablitznews.com recalled that NERC had earlier in the month of April announced the increment in electricity tariff but explained that only electricity customers in Band A would be affected by the increase.
