The Commissioner of Health and Human Services, in Adamawa state, Felix Tangwame, has confirmed that a measles outbreak in the state claimed 42 lives.
Tangwame revealed this late on Friday, while speaking to reporters shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Yola, stating that the measles affected eight wards in Mubi and seven wards in Gombi local government areas.
He gave the death toll of 42 out of 131 and 177 respectively of the affected persons in the indicated LGAs.
In a bid to control the spread, the commissioner said all LGAs in the state had been put on red alert.
Tangwame also said that the government and development partners were on top of the situation.
